PLEO has a lot to reflect on as we look back at 2025.
Throughout the past year, we have made new connections and strengthened existing relationships with long-time partners across the country. Most gratifyingly, thousands of you from Coast to Coast to Coast have visited LawForNonProfits.ca, and completed our Legal Help Guides! Just as importantly, PLEO staff visited the Yukon, Alberta, Nunavut, Ontario and the Maritimes over the course of the year, to engage with Canada's broad community of nonprofits and to confer with our colleagues in the public legal education space. The outreach has given us a deeper understanding of the legal needs of the nonprofit and charitable sector across the country and provided opportunities to grow LawForNonProfits.ca. To that end, we will have some big announcements to make in the new year.
While rewarding, it has not - nor has it ever - been easy. As anyone reading this will know, every nonprofit faces challenges - legal, financial or operational. Nonprofit burnout is real. Among nonprofits, PLEO is unique in that we face our own struggles even as we work to help other nonprofits through theirs or avoid them altogether. At the core of all that PLEO has accomplished is a small part-time staff of four who write grants, answer emails, host webinars, triage crises, generate content for LFNP and deal with any other issues that come up.
As a nonprofit dedicated to helping other nonprofits, it is uniquely difficult to ask our community for financial support. We know that many of you reading this represent over-subscribed organizations that provide essential services and supports to your constituents. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the great work you do. If, however, you happen to have the means, we would be deeply appreciative of your financial support, particularly if you attended a workshop or webinar over the past year. Now is a great time to get yourself a tax receipt for 2025. Additionally, or alternately as the case may be, your story can help us. Personal testimonials can go a long way to helping potential funders understand the impact of the work we do and of the value of the LawForNonProfits project. You are always welcome to send a testimonial to communications@pacificlegaloutreach.com.
