Does your non-profit know Robert's Rules of Order well enough to run a meeting?

What do I need to know about Robert’s Rules to run meetings?

Robert’s Rules of Order can get pretty technical. Your non-profit doesn’t need to know Robert’s Rules cover-to-cover to effectively run a meeting. Your non-profit can likely run a meeting without issues if it can handle:

  • Main motions (moving, seconding, discussion, vote)
  • Subsidiary motions (motion to amend, refer, or postpone)
  • Privilege motions (point of privilege, motion to recess or adjourn)
  • Incidental motions (point of information, point of order, caucus, motion to reconsider or rescind)
