There are more than 27,000 non-profit societies in BC, providing services and programs that touch virtually every citizen. The BC Society Act, which provides the rules for governance and incorporation of non-profits, has been replaced by the new Societies Act as of November 28, 2016. There will be a two-year transition period, after which all societies in BC will have to make the switch to the new Act.
Building on the basic framework of the Legal Pitfalls workshop, Part One: The New Societies Act: What You Need to Know, is everything you need to know about the new Societies Act. The objective of the webinar is to help you find out what the key changes are in the new Act and how to plan ahead.
Part Two demonstrates the mechanics of the transition with examples of constitution and by-law changes.
