Pacific Legal Education & Outreach's mission is to support the legal wellbeing of British Columbia's Arts and Non-Profit sectors. It is the umbrella organisation for the Artists Legal Outreach and Law for Non-Profits. Based in the Lower Mainland. For over 15 years ALO and LNP have reached out across the Province to provide information, education and advice to artists, arts organizations and British Columbia's 27,000+ non-profits. PLEO is seeking an Administrative Assistant to help support with the delivery of this important mission.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director this is a 16hr/week position. Your job will be to track, direct and respond to incoming communication, maintain organised on and off-line filing systems, coordinate volunteers, coordinate and promote workshops and events, prepare periodic newsletters, track project expenses, and execute basic bookkeeping and government compliance filing tasks. You will also assist in grant writing, reporting, budget planning and annual report preparation.
You will work two days per week in the PLEO office situated at the Alliance for Arts & Culture at 938 Howe Street in downtown Vancouver. There is a possibility for expansion to full time in 2020.
The successful applicant will be a highly organised individual with strong communication skills capable of handling multiple parallel projects. You will have the following qualifications:
-a bachelor's degree or diploma in communications, business, paralegal or arts administration.
-2 years experience in a similar role
-experience in file organisation and bookkeeping, with knowledge of Sage50, Google Drive and G-Suite a strong asset
-strong social media skills, experience with MailChimp, Eventbrite and Facebook Business an asset.
-familiarity with the non-profit grant funding system in BC and Canada is preferred.
